Building our garden, well maybe not

So we have decided to build a raised garden in our back yard since we don't have the space to put a traditional garden, but mother nature seems to think that we should be wet while doing it. I think we will try to finish Sunday, my next day off. I got the baking bug last night and wanted to make something sweet, but could not figure out what, so I looked through the cupboards and found flour, sugar, and eggs....hmmmm. Then it hit me, sugar cookiesNow here is where we find out a little more about me, and the way I cook. The recipe calls for 1 and 1/2 cups of softened butter to be mixed with 2 cups of sugar, but I don't have a hand mixer. So Three sticks of butter melted in the microwave and mixed with the sugar by a wire whisk worked. Then you need t0 roll the dough out with a rolling pin (oh no, here we go again), but a nice heavy Pabst Blue Ribbon glass works well, I hear that in a real pinch just a tall boy PBR works too. Maybe I should go shopping. Any way here is the recipe
1 1/2 cups butter, softened (three sticks)
2 cups white sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
5 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on un-greased cookie sheets. Bake 6 to 8 minutes in preheated oven. Cool completely. Then frost however you see fit. I used plain white frosting and chocolate sprinkles.
